Kalorama is a beautiful neighborhood that is located between the exciting communities of Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle, in Northwest D.C. The neighborhood is bordered by Massachusetts Avenue on the West, to the north by Calvert Street and to the south by Florida Avenue.
Kalorama is comprised of two different halves: Kalorama Triangle and Sheridan-Kalorama. These two different districts are separated by Connecticut Avenue. Kalorama Triangle, on the west side of Connecticut Ave, is characterized by a variety ofluxury large single home, historic condominiums pre WWII, and historic row houses. The architectural details, the history that pervades each property and the persons that lived in the residences of Kalorama create a special atmosphere that brings the resident to a pre WWII time period.
Sheridan-Kalorama, on the east side of Connecticut Ave, is made up of luxurious condominiums, single-family homes and wonderful cooperatives all built before WWII. Sheridan-Kalorama also contains numerous museums, embassies and parks, as well. Many of the residences and buildings in Kalorama are mentioned in the book Best Addresses: A century of Washington's District Distinguished Apartment Houses.
Many areas of Kalorama offer beautiful, scenic views of Rock Creek Park. Along with the wonderful natural areas, Kalorama is known for having once housed such presidents as Taft, Roosevelt, Hoover and Wilson.
Museums are abundant in the Kalorama area. Having joined with Dupont Circle, the Dupont-Kalorama Museums Consortium offers eight different museums that are off the beaten path of the well-known National Mall.
